Where are we located?

Our 35 foot boat is located at Montrose Harbor in downtown Chicago. With the 23 foot boat we leave out of Burnham, Diversey or 31st Street harbor/boat ramp depending on where the fish are at. Both locations however are always a short 10-15 minute cab ride from downtown Chicago.

How many people can we take?

The small boat can take up to 3 people, whereas the larger boat can accommodate up to 6 people. If you have a larger group, please contact us, we would love to help you set up your own fishing tournament with multiple boats! Of course you will want to be on Why Knot to make sure you have bragging rights over your friends who are on the other boats!

Are fishing license included?

No. You will need to purchase your license before the trip. You can go to Illinois DNR website to buy your one day or 1 year fishing license. Make sure you get a license and a Salmon Stamp! If you are from out of town, we would recommend a 24 hour Sport fishing license and the Salmon Stamp. Make sure you start the license the morning of the trip.

Do we get to keep the fish?

Yes! Fish cleaning, bagging, and ice for the ride home is included in the charter cost. Don't forget a cooler to take the fish home with you. We highly recommend having some of your fish smoked at Hagen's Fish Market in NW Chicago. You won't regret it. All of your friends will be begging for some of the smoked trout and salmon!

Does the charter include food or beverages?

We provide you with ice for the charter. Feel free to bring any food or beverages you want to enjoy while on the trip. We will have extra space in our cooler, if needed, to keep your spirits cold. Beer and Alcohol are allowed. Please try to bring plastic or aluminum bottles when possible to avoid broken glass on the boat.

What age do you recommend for children?

Children under the age of 8 might not enjoy their time on the fishing trips. We have life jackets for children from 2-18 years of age.

When do charters leave?

We can leave whenever you wish, but the best fishing tends to occur during sunrise and sunset. Please call us to figure out the best start time for you!
